Dr. Louis chose veterinary medicine as a second career after studying molecular cell biology at Washington University School of Medicine. After adopting two rescued dogs and becoming more involved with rescue work, she realized veterinary medicine was the right path. She graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004.

Her favorite topics are dermatology and internal medicine, which make up much of what she sees every day. She takes time to explain diagnostic and treatment options clearly, even when the information is complex.

Her approach is direct and grounded in respect: treat people the way she would want to be treated. Clients appreciate her honesty, practical explanations, and the way she keeps room for a little laughter in a hard job.

Home hospice care is a passion for Dr. Louis. She knows what it is like to love a pet as a family member, and she cares deeply about improving quality of life for geriatric dogs and cats.

Dr. Louis is certified in veterinary medical acupuncture and helped the practice become certified in Low Stress Handling in 2019. These techniques are incorporated into each appointment so visits feel as calm and respectful as possible.
